The Tokyo Baby Café Designed For Parents And Their Kids

It’s usually difficult to find a place where, as a parent, you can go with your child and have a good time. It’s usually only one of you that has a good time while the other is just waiting to get out and try something else. In Tokyo, someone had the genius idea of creating a “parent and child café”.

This is Tokyo Baby Café, a place where both parents and children can go and have a good time. Tokyo Baby is located in Omotesando, in Tokyo, Japan and was designed by Nendo. It’s basically a combination between a café and a children’s playground. The place is fully stocked with picture books, toys and other things that keep children busy. It also includes a playroom, several private rooms in case a parent needs some alone-time with his/her child either to feed him, change him or simply to play together. There are separate spaces for nursing and changing diapers.

The café features wide aisles that make it easier to move around with a stroller. All light switches and doors handler and placed high up where the children can’t reach them. Since the café was designed as a space for parents and small children, the interior also focuses on this difference in scale, making it attractive and fun. The furniture is either huge or tiny. The nursing sofa is one of the biggest attractions. It can either turn into a playroom when blown up on a massive scale or into a diaper changing table when shrunk to minuscule proportions.
