The Roulade Sofa – an innovative piece of furniture and a meeting between mattress and couch

The Roulade sofa, despite its name and the way it’s referred to as, is not a sofa per se. It’s a piece that can be situated somewhere in between a mattress and a couch. More exactly, it’s a couch-style chair. The concept is unusual but the idea is very functional in essence. The Roulade is created by KiBiSi. The Danish designers describe it as a piece that echoes the old while channeling the new. It’s a very accurate description that suits the piece perfectly.

The Roulade is a piece crafted from high density foam. It’s covered in high tech Kvadrat fabric and features big button decorations. It’s a piece that situates itself in between generations and styles. It’s a chair but it looks both like a rolled up mattress and a sofa. But, partially, it’s this mixture of elements that makes this piece so captivating. The piece is contemporary and has an iconic look but it’s also somewhat reminiscent of the past.

The high density foam is cut into a fixed shape and is reminiscent of a rolled up mattress. However, it does not unroll. The first impression you get when first seeing this piece is that it must be really comfortable. Indeed, the Roulade is extremely cozy and comfy. It’s also very durable. It’s a piece that could be used in living rooms, in sitting areas and it any space designated as a hangout. It;s soft and cozy and has a casual, modern look.
