The Richard Kirk Architect Residence Project

The Elysium project involves the creation of a development representing a 189 lot boutique housing sub-division. Among others, Richard Kirk Architect was invited to participate at the project back in 2005. The building they created is located in Noosa, Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. It was completed in 2008. Lot 176 is the first of the series. It’s a prototype structure that was created using the same materials, techniques and ideas as all the other ones.

This particular residence from Lot 176 is located on a ridge along the west of the Elysium development. It has views of the golf course the surrounding landscape. The residence is a two-storey volume placed in the center of the site. The transition from interior to exterior is very smooth thanks to the restraint palette of materials that was used. The materials sued for this project include timber piece that were left to weather naturally, zinc and self-finished oxide renders.

The materials will allow the residence to blend with the surrounding. It’s a process that will be visible in time, as the materials age naturally. As for the internal structure, the residence includes a garage place below the level at which the living room are situated. The residence facilitates the transition from inside to outside. It features sliding glass doors and large windows.
