The Picturesque Amangiri Resort and Spa

Located in southern Utah, the Amangiri Resort and Spa was designed as a way to celebrate the splendid landscape and the amazing cliffs and rock formations. It was a project developed by three architects: Marwan Al-Sayed, Wendell Burnette and Rick Joy. They worked together to find a way of honoring nature and all the beauty it offered us by being as little invasive as possible.

The resort sits on a 600 acre site in Canyon Point, in a valley with exceptional views. It’s a 25-minute drive from the nearest town and a 15-minute drive to Lake Powell. The great benefit of the resort is that it’s situated in a deserted area and it has all the surrounding beauty to itself. Since the main attraction is the landscape, the resort was designed to blend into the surroundings. It’s been well proportioned with the scale of the natural surroundings and it features the same textures and materials as the rest of the landscape.

As the guests arrive they first descend into a valley and reach the central Pavilion. It features a stone façade and it’s been built around the main swimming pool. It includes the living room, the gallery, the library, the dining room, a separate private dining room and the cellar. There are two separate wings that contain 17 suites each. The south wing also contains the Aman Spa. Inside, the rooms feature white stone floors, concrete walls and furniture built from natural materials.
