The ottoman from Ligne Roset

I was a bit curious the other day to find out the origins of the name “ottoman” used for that soft chair that does not have a back rest. I have encountered these chairs many times on the specialized web sites and I wanted to know where they came from . Apparently they have their origins in the Orient, in the a footstool that was used back in the Ottoman Empire – today’s Turkey.  But if you adjust them a bit or simply use them as they are they can be very useful and comfortable pieces of furniture around the house.

Look at these nice Ottoman chairs from Ligne Roset! They are so lovely and nice and you can see from the picture just how comfortable they are. The back of the chair is a bit upwards, so it replaces the back rest in a very convenient way. These chairs and sofas do not have any legs and you simply lift them up and put them in another place if you want to move them in another room for example.

The picture at the bottom shows you a sofa the same model produced by the same manufacturer and designer and I can say it looks really nice. Of course it is perfect for the living room and your guests will simply love it. Some people looked at the model in the middle of the ottoman that looks like a stylized maple tree leaf and suggested this design would be specially made for Canada, considering its flag that has a maple leaf on. Well, I don’t know about that, but I simply love the chairs.
