The Molly Desk by British Designer Toby Howes

We are so used to admiring contemporary furniture elements that an older style trait is something we tend to ignore. The Molly Desk by British designer Toby Howes however has a different story to tell. His furniture creation offers a vivid dichotomy by using contrasting elements to give form to this desk.

He chooses straight lines and curves together and then he pitches the light against the dark. He uses the contrasting effect of intricate construction with simple style and luxurious materials with sparse design.  The consequence is the Molly Desk that combines a light suspended-in-air feel with the utilitarianism of the 1950s. Toby was inspired to finish this desk in such a manner after meeting a client at the t The Celebration of Craftsmanship & Design Exhibition. The client was passionate about the furniture of the 1950s.
