The limited edition Superleggera armchair

You might find this armchair odd because of its unusual shape. However, this design was not chosen simply because of its strangeness and ability to attract attention but mostly because it’s a very comfortable design. The armchair is called Superleggera and it was designed by Joe Colombo. Another surprising detail about it is the fact that it was originally designed in 1965.

This visionary piece of furniture is still perceived as modern and stylish even after all these years. It’s an advantage that timeless creations have. The armchair was designed for B-Line and it’s currently being produced in a limited edition. This makes it even more special. This unusual chair was designed for reading. It’s an ideal piece of furniture that allows the user to sit comfortably while reading a favorite book. It features an oil-varnished, curved multilayer walnut frame, the base for a very comfortable shape.

The Superleggera armchair features an anatomical cushion designed to follow to human body’s contour and perfectly fit with the user’s silhouette. The armrests are also designed for comfort. The cushion and the armrests have polyurethane foam padding and either leather or fabric upholstery. The chair comes in several different colors and it’s a part of the permanent collection of the Vitra Design Museum in Berlin. Its design and perfect combination of shapes, lines, materials and details makes it a unique piece that would easily become a star in any interior.
