The ingenious Pi and Up Sidetables by Marc Th. van der Voorn

Side tables, just like ottomans, provide with that little extra space you need when sitting comfortable in a chair or on the sofa. Side tables are smaller than coffee tables but they are also more versatile. They can be very practical in all the rooms of the house. They usually complement nicely a cozy armchair but they can also be used as nightstands or bedside tables. These two side tables are particularly interesting because they have a simple but eye-catching design.

The two tables were created by Dutch designer Marc Th. van der Voorn for Odesi. Their names are Pi an Up and are a representation of their shape. The names are simple and catchy, just like the tables. The Pi table is a particularly functional piece of furniture because it’s not only a great side table but also a magazine holder. The magazines can be easily stacked on the legs of the table thanks to their shape and inclined position. Moreover, the two curved legs also have a round hole in them and allow you to roll up the newspaper and store it there. This way you’ll always have them near-by when you need something to read and they don’t take space.

The Up table is also innovative. It differentiates itself from the other side table with its slightly larger top. It measures 40X60 cm as opposed to the usual 40×40 cm. This gives the extra space that you often need, whether it’s for your cup of coffee, phone or anything else. Both Pi and Up tables have a minimalist design and they are available in matte black combined with a white or red tabletop.
