The Feast Sideboard by Sabina Hill

Who says that a woman can`t make a good design ? Well, a Canadian designer Sabina Hill, in collaboration with First Nations artists, creates original custom furniture. The project made by Sabina evokes the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest and celebrates the convergence of two distinct design cultures: the traditional one and the modern one. But, as you can see in the nicely shaped furniture here, there two cultures can co-exist very well.

In fact they are a constant source of inspiration for one another. I personally like the way in which the designer combined the ancient traditional motifs with the modern materials, making a great piece of work. You will notice the beautifully craved whale motifs that are even more enhanced by their colouring in black and the symbols that were borrowed and that show great on the light colour of the Feast sideboard.

The Feast collection from Sabina Hill also includes a Feast table, also decorated with these traditional motifs and keeping the old symbols alive. For example the four doors of the sideboard are meant to symbolize the four sides of the feast bowl when an offering was being made.
