The exotic Residence Zanzibar by HBA

Residence Zanzibar, in spite of its misleading name, is actually a resort located on a remote corner of the island of Zanzibar. It was designed by HBA / Hirsch Bedner Associates. The resort covers an area of over 80 acres and it’s composed of 66 villas featuring a colonial theme inspired from the Swahili, Omani, British and Indian cultures that can be found in the area of Zanzibar.

This is definitely an impressive resort, luxurious and very beautiful. Each of the 66 villas has its own private terrace and swimming pool. The villas are modern but also natural, managing to blend in into the landscape and fit with the surroundings. As for the interior designs of these villas, many of the artifacts and furniture have been taken from local markets and shops, thus reflecting the natural beauty of the resort.

All the furniture in the villas is a mix of styles and cultures reflecting the various influences that can be found in Zanzibar and its history. These artifacts include hand-painted artwork presenting scenes of Zanzibar, photographs of Dhows, the Arab sailing vessel as well as many other decorations. The décor is a combination of white and tones of beige. The atmosphere is fresh and very calm. It’s a very romantic resort, a sophisticated getaway where you spend an unforgettable summer.{found on freshome}
