The Colunata Contemporary White House

This beautiful contemporary residence is the Colunata House. It’s located in Lagos, Algarve, Portugal and it was a project by Mario Martins. The project was developed between 2007 and 2011. The location is very beautiful. The site is facing the sea and the views are amazing.

There were some rules regarding the construction of this house. It had to be a contemporary design while also respecting the surrounding area. The architects had to use local materials and building techniques and the house needed to take advantage of its orientation in order to be protected from the wind. The transition between exterior and interior had to be smooth and subtle and the house also needed to take full advantage of the views.

By following these guidelines, the architects managed to come with this amazing design. They designed a set of white columns with semi-circular opening. This design offers privileged views over the sea while also wrapping itself around the pool. The residence also features a central terrace that function as the core of the house. The rest of the interior was structured in liaison with this space. The residence includes five bedrooms with their bathrooms and a large living room connected to the kitchen. The entire house is white and filled with natural light. The beautiful views add the perfect pop of color.{found on contemporist}.
