The Cocoon Fireplace by Federico Otero

If there’s anything that radically changed throughout the years, in terms of interior decorations, it’s not the furniture but the fireplace. This particular decoration and important part of the home has evolved from the old and traditional design that was actually built into the wall and extremely large to smaller designs and then to modular and even portable fireplaces that no longer use wood as a source of energy. One of the most flexible and modern fireplace designs is the one called “Cocoon”.

The Cocoon fireplace was designed by Federico Otero and it’s an update model of the classic modern fireplace. It features a very simple design and it has an oval shape similar to a cocoon, hence the name. It’s the shape and the design that make this fireplace so versatile and suitable for almost any type of interior.

The Cocoon fireplace burns smoke-free ethanol and it also has a mechanism that allows it to rotate 360 degrees. This model comes in either black or stainless steel finish with varying pole heights according to the ceiling’s height. Another element that makes this fireplace so versatile is the fact that it can also be used for other purposes. You just need to remove the ethanol-burning box and you can use the cocoon-shaped unit for other purposes, such as storage or anything else you can think of.
