The Cardboard Office Interior Design for Advertising Agency Nothing

If you though you’ve seen them all, think again! A cardboard interior is a thing you don’t see every day. An Amsterdam-Based firm has an interior designed by  the world-wide recognized designers Joost van Bleiswijk and Alrik Koudenburg. The idea of designing a complete interior made entirely of cardboard belonged to Alrik, but the real challenge was to convince the owner do go with it. A bold decision was made and a variety of volumes resulted.

Among them, there is a boardroom, a grand elevated office and a library-work area, a coffee corner, desks and so on. A interesting technique was used: no screws no glue!  I would describe this place as a place of contrasts. It almost looks unreal and more like a doll house, we used to make and play when we were kids, but in the same time you see full size chairs, laptops ,stairs that can really hold your weight. Large cardboard tables and entire offices were made.

It’s kind of hard to think that such a solid structure can be made only from reinforced cardboard, and most of all, without any use of glue, or screws. Also, we see a normal work area with chairs and laptops, phones , lamps except there are cardboard desks, even a cardboard planter.  Folks, two things I’ve learned today: that such a unusual material can be in fact really strong and a true building material, and that technological progress will continue to amaze us every single day, in any given moment.
