Stacked DIY planters for your home

We’re always trying to make our home as lovely and inviting as possible. Still, most of the time we focus only on the interior. The exterior needs attention as well. Make your entrance more inviting with a set of planters for example. We have a project that you can do by yourself. It’s a set of three stacking planters with a friendly message on them. Here’s what you’ll need for this project: 3 terracotta pots (large, medium and small), 2-3 plastic pots-when turned upside-down, a tray for water drainage, some outdoor paint, 2 brushes, painter’s tape, a drill and obviously plants/flowers.

The first thing you’ll need to do is wipe the pots clean. Then take some painter’s tape and mask off the inside rim of the pots. Now you can start painting them. The interior should not be painted because the soil and the plants will go directly into the pots. In this case black paint was sued but you can choose whatever color you like. Apply three coats of paint. If you want to save some paint while also avoid applying chemicals onto the soil you can leave the bottoms unpainted as well.

After the paint is dry you need to figure out what message you want to display on the pots. Since these were meant for the outdoor entrance, “Home sweet home” seemed like a great choice. Then cut out the letters and create a stencil. Use painter’s tape to adhere the stencil to the pots and start hand-painting the letters. The color you choose for the letters should create a strong contrast with the shade used for the pots so that the letters would be visible and easy to read. Now that this part is done, you need to drill several holes in the bottom of the pots. Finally, add the soil and the plants and put them one on top of the other and you’re done.{found on diggerslist}.
