Source Kudu Lamp

I have said it time and time again that nature is the best source of inspiration, no matter what your job is or what you seek inspiration for. Any way, this is just one more proof and if you look at this item carefully you would realize that the base of this Source Kudu Lamp looks like a pair of horns coming from an African antelope. They are, of course, stylized, but they look great nonetheless. The lamp shade is rather common, even boring, with the white fabric surrounding the 13W CFL bulb that is included in the price.

One of the stylized horns that are glued to the lamp base supports the lamp shade, while the other swirls gracefully towards the ceiling in an artistic imitation of the way the real horns of Kudu antelope look like. The “horns” are made of polyresin and there is also a rotary on/off switch. The item is designed by Trevyn and Julian McGowan who normally work for Source design, so the product is the result of a beautiful collaboration. The result is amazing and will certainly improve the general design of any home, modern or not. The acquiring price is $149 and you can order it on West Elm web site.
