Small House Into Residence by LASC studio

This particularly interesting house is located in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was built in 2011 and it was a project developed by LASC studio. What you see here is not actually the entire house and it wasn’t all built in 2011. The actual Cloudy House is just an extension of a 1930s house. The original house was owned by a young family who’s members started to multiply so they found themselves in need of more space. So they’ve decided to expand the house.

They tried to incorporate the new structure into the existing one. The roof from the existing house seems to stretch out over thee extension. They two structure seem to communicate in their own language. The combination between the two houses is very dynamic and has a contemporary look.

The interior of the extension shares the same characteristics. There’s a massive wooden loft in the new living room. The loft is suspended from the ceiling by thin steel rods. This emphasizes the floating and cloud-like appearance. You can reach the loft by a wooden ladder placed on a concrete platform. The new volume was envisioned as a bedroom, a quiet area for relaxation. The oversized windows allow plenty of natural light to get in. The translucent walls light up during the night, creating a fantastic image. It’s a very odd combination of intimacy and openness that seems to work nicely together in this case.{found on archdaily}
