Simple Decor Updates That Will Have A Big Visual impact On Your Home

The living room is the area where you usually most of the time in when you’re at home so it’s natural for it to seem monotonous at some point. This usually means it’s time for an update. It doesn’t have to be anything complex. A few simple changes can have a big impact on the overall décor.

Oversized artwork.

Use oversized artwork to fill your fireplace wall and to make that portion the focal point of the room

A simple and efficient way of creating focal points in the living room and also of changing the décor is to use oversized artwork. It’s a nice solution for filling an empty wall and the great thing about it is that you can use anything as inspiration as long as you like and it goes with the décor.

Hanging lights.

Hanging pendant lights can be romantic, elegant or striking, depending on the design

Most living rooms include the traditional items such as floor lamps and table lamps. But how about a change of style? Instead of using those items you can replace them with a beautiful pendant light or maybe with a chandelier if the décor allows you to.

Mix and match.

Try to combine cold and warm colors for a balanced visual effect

Don’t be afraid to play with colors and textures. In fact, you can use this to your advantage whenever you feel the need for a change in décor. You can add some pillows to the mix or you can mix and match colors to create a more dynamic and refreshing décor.

Decorate with intention.

These types of decors don’t always have to be symmetrical so feel free so be creative

When we say that what we mean is that you should try to pair items that work together in order to create a themed and balanced décor. For example, you could select family pictures and display them on a wall or you could display collections of any sort.

Create a gallery.

Galleries can cover an entire wall or they can be limited to a smaller space

If you don’t already have one already, then a gallery can be a very nice update for your home’s décor. Creating one is simple. All you have to do is gather a series of photos and prints and display them on a wall. This will most likely become a focal point in the room.

Recover an old chair.

You can give an old chair a modern look by opting for more colorful fabric and maybe for a different finish

When you want to update your home’s décor don’t feel pressured to think that you need to but new furniture. You could very easily use an old piece of furniture and give it a modern makeover. For example, an old chair can be reupholstered, maybe even repainted and it will become a great addition to your décor.

Textured walls.

A textured wall often makes the décor and the atmosphere seem more inviting and cozy

An obvious way of changing the way a rooms looks is to repaint the walls. But that can be difficult and it requires you to empty the room and to rearrange everything after that. A simpler solution would be to add texture and color to your walls by using wallpaper or brightly colored cloth.
