Simple and versatile Piana Folding Chair

This extremely simple and also choc chair was designed by Sir David Chipperfield for Alessi/Lamm. It features a minimalist design that attempts to reinvent the traditional folding chair. The Piana Chair, as it is called, was designed in 2011 and it was described as a “visual expression that is indicative in its simplicity of the function and role of the item itself.” We can only agree with that.

The beauty of this design is that it has no visible hardware, as opposed to the usual folding chairs we have in our homes. That’s a sign of class and elegance. So it’s more to this chair than you might first think. The chair features three parts that rotate around a single axis. The finely engineered mechanism is concealed within the chair.

Another great advantage is that the Piana Chair folds completely flat. This means you’ll be able to save a lot of space by depositing the chair anywhere you have some free space. Even when it’s folded it’s more efficient than its previous relatives. The chair was made in Italy. The versatility of this product doesn’t stop at its dimensions and shape. The chair is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Moreover, it comes in several different colors, including black, green, grey, red, beige and yellow. Combine the colors for a contrasting effect. You can buy the Piana chair for $225.00 USD.
