Shore Hotel:The first LEED Gold hotel in Santa Monica

The Shore Hotel is a modern and green alternative to the usual chain hotels. It’s a lovely property owned by the Farzam family. Originally, the plot on which the Shore Hotel was built was occupied by the Pacific Sands and the Travelodge hotels. They were also owned by the same family. Recently, the owners decided that it was time for a change. The two hotels were torn down and the materials were used to build a new and modern hotel.

The Shore Hotel is also the first property in California to implement the Savings by Design program. It means that the hotel earns incentives by reducing the use of energy during peak hours. Moreover, it was also built using water-wise landscaping and water-efficient fixtures. They help reduce the amount of potable water by 50%. Also, the hotel’s guests can enjoy non-toxic environments, naturally lit and ventilated rooms with eco-friendly furniture and finishes.

The new Shore Hotel opened last fall. It offers 164 rooms with modern interiors and eco-friendly decors. Each room also has a balcony facing the beach. The guests can enjoy beautiful views of the ocean along with exquisite services. The hotel has a U shape and in the center in features a solar thermal heated pool clad in sandstone that reflects light. It also has a reflective roof, energy-efficient systems, automatic sensors, energy heat recovery and a highly efficient elevator. It’s a green alternative and a bold change for the owners of the hotel.
