Scoop Tondo: sofa bed project

Nowadays most people opt for convertible pieces of furniture for their home. They have the advantage of being versatile and allow multiple uses. The most common example of such a piece is probably the sofa bed. This combination allows you to have a nice sofa during the day, where you can sit and chat with your guests, and a bed during the night where someone can comfortable sleep.

There are several different designs for sofa beds that are meant to be functional and comfortable in the same time. The Scoop Tondo proposes a somewhat different idea. For starters, this sofa, or sofa bed has a round shape, which is unusual for either one of the pieces. The project is composed of two different pieces that together form a circle. When used separately they look elegant and sophisticated and you don’t really realize from the beginning that together they form a round shape. Only when the mobile half is moved towards the fixed one since it’s provided with small wheels you realize that the overall design is quite different from the usual ones.

The only thing that bothers me related to this particular piece of furniture is that the two pieces don’t seem to have a system that keeps them together so they could very well slip ob be taken apart without a lot of effort and this would not be very comfortable during the night.Available on sabaitalia.
