Save Space In Your Home Or Garden By Creating Vertical Planters

Whether you have a small balcony, a terrace or a big garden, vertical planters are always a great option. They allow you to save space and to display your herbs and plants in a beautiful and interesting manner. Also, you get to organize them according to your own criteria and to create beautiful combinations of colors and shapes.

There are lots of different types of vertical planters. This one is one of the simpler types. To make something like this you need 5 terrra cotta pots of different dimensions and a rod which runs through their centers and keeps them steady.{found on sweetbellaroos}.

Another type can be a vertical planter made from a repurposed item such as this plantation shutter. Use tuf-felt to make loops or pockets in which the plants will stay. Sao all you have to do is adjust the design a little bit and to be creative.{found on site}.

Speaking of pockets, here’s a vertical planter that takes them to a whole new level. The materials needed for such a project are a hanging pocket shoe organizer, a pole, hanging hooks, compost, plants or seeds and a piece of wood for the base.{found on instructables}.

If you wish to display your plants indoors, then a tiered hanging planter would be the perfect choice. To make one you need some scrap wood, terracotta pots, rope and a metal ring. Cut out holes in the wood squares big enough for the pots to sit comfortably in and drill holes in each of the corners. Then use rope to make the tiers.{found on designsponge}.

Another option can be to use a wooden pallet, since they’re so versatile and good for just about any project. Remove the slats from the top of the pallet, cover the back with a thin piece of wood and then with plastic sheeting. Then cover the back with t double layer of landscaping fabric. For the garden, you could make a vertical hanging gutter planter. This one is made of gutter pieces and all you need are some hooks and wire or rope. You can hang it from a big branch in a tree or from a beam.

Make a lovely planters for your little colorful flowers and display them on the balcony. You need a wooden pole, 4 clay pots, zip ties, flowers, soil and paint if you wish to give the pots a makeover. Measure and cut the pole to fit under your deck railing or anywhere else you want to place it. Attach two zip ties to the pole at the bottom, bring the fitst pot down and tilt it. This is a pallet vertical garden but it’s very different from the one we showed you above. For this one you need 3 or 4 pallets. Decide which pallet will be the base and pill off all the planks except for the ends and the middle. Then arrange the planks as you wish. Love strawberries? Well who doesn’t? But do you how to make a vertical strawberry tube planter? You need a watering pipe, PVC downpipe, an end cap, a cork, duct tape, geotextile, soil, gravel, ties and strawberry plants. Cut the tubes and drill the vent holes. Cut the geotextile to cover the holes and add gravel, soil and plants.{found on urbangreenspace}.

Here’s another way in which you build a strawberry tower. You need 2 fence planks, PVC pipe, plug for the pipe, scrap wood for the base, soil and plants. Cut the boards in half and drill holes in the PVC pipe. Screw all the pieces together to form a tall tower. Put some gravel at the bottom and fill the rest with soil. Similarly, you can create vertical planters for any other type of plants and herbs. To make something like this you need PVC pipe, soil, plants, pebbles and irrigation pipeline. Cut out the holes in the pipe and create the watering system. Then fill the pipe with pebbles and soil and add the plants.{found on instructables}.

If you’re the type that prefers eye-catching designs, then try making a pyramid planter. You’ll need lots of wood, plywood, casters, glue and gravel, soil and plants. Here’s how you can turn a rusty fence into a beautiful planter for your terrace or deck. You basically just have to find a good place where to display the fence. Let’s finish with this interesting-looking vertical garden. It was made using 2 star risers, 5 planter boxes, a board and some nuts and bolts.
