The Idea House is a contemporary residence located in Healdsburg, California. It’s not just any modern home but the type that pays special attention to the environment and has as little impact on the surrounding area as possible. In other words, this is a green home.It was a project developed by Rosemary Wardell and it’s a prefab house. It has fabricated by Blu Homes and the interior was designed by Sharon Portnoy.

The project cost $2.65 million. It includes a main volume that covers an area of 3,000 square feet and a guest house with a surface of 480 square feet. The Idea House will be open for public tours on August 3, 2012. Then you’ll be able to visit it and form a personal opinion about this kind of projects and about prefabricated houses in general.

The guest house has a total of five bedrooms and five bathrooms. The main volume includes a series of social area including the living room, dining room, kitchen as well as a series of outdoor lounge areas. The interior is simple, elegant and colorful. It’s a mix of modern and traditional elements and the contrast is mostly visible in the same of the furniture and materials used. The windows are large and all the rooms are bright and inviting. The exterior of the house is grey and simple and it blends in easily.
