Retro Easy Chairs from the Times of Yore

The retro design fanatics for home furnishings are in for a treat here on homedit as we just finished talking about the DS32 lounge chairs and now we have a set of two leather lounge chairs by Percival Lafer, Brazil, which were finished in the 1960s. Again in this case, the leather has a nice patina and a little wear at the front which make these chairs look all the more stylish. The frame of this chair set has been carved out of rose wood and despite the times gone by, the product is still in very good condition.

Vintage or retro furniture pieces are a little more difficult to find, especially now when everyone is looking for modern or contemporary pieces. But there are still some very beautiful examples of retro items. I’m not a fan of this style so I can’t give many details about this item. All I can say is that it’s relatively simple chair with wood legs and leather cushion. It looks quite comfortable. I personally don’t like this chair, but like I’ve already said I’m not a fan of this style. So I leave this up to you, to decide if you like this piece or not.

As you can see it’s a set of two chairs, so they should be purchased together. It would make a nice addition to a home that shares the same style. I have something similar at home, also a set of two armchairs, also retro, and I can’t wait to replace them.

Marsotto Luxurious White Marble Accessories

You may get to buy bathroom accessories in all sorts of materials but white marble is still the most stylish and the most loved material for bathroom sinks, basins and shower trays. The Italian brand Marsotto has been loyal in maintaining its love for white marble and it has unleashed a new lineage of double sink vanity, washbasins and shower trays.

Nicola Giardini Papa designed this new range forMarsotto which caters to make a sweet statement in a modern dwelling. The perforated pattern can be seen on the basin bases, the sliding doors of the double sink vanity and underfoot in the shower tray

I like it when I see simple and modern bathroom features. That is a room that doesn’t need a lot of details. It’s supposed to be mainly functional. Of course, the aesthetic aspect can’t be neglected, so a combination between the two is the perfect choice. And this collection has it all. It’s simple, very functional and it has a nice modern look.

This collection is very beautiful. It’s modern and very elegant and would look great in a modern bathroom. The pieces are simple, except for the decorative pattern which is gorgeous. A simple and elegant detail like this one is everything you need to make a piece stand out and to look beautiful. In case you decide to purchase this collection, take into consideration the space, because this is not appropriate for a small bathroom.

The Pyramid Table from Stephane Thivend Loves Your Doodads

An ordinary table with a common flat top is no more an eye candy in your living space and you need to spice up life using items such as the pyramid shaped multimedia table from Stephane Thivend. The unusual looking table has a huge pyramid as its base and when you inspect it closely, the table contains a couple of speakers’ and a docking station for your iPod and the iPhone.

Instead of buying an individual set of speakers or a docking station for your favorite Apple gadgets, the wiser option is to bring this table home and serve a dual purpose. Not to forget that this table can also be a potential style statement in your living room, so it eventually serves three purposes.

Trendy Stump Stools from Cumulus Project

What is trendy is always in demand and I have mentioned numerous times that the customary furniture isn’t just good enough to spice up your living any more. You need itineraries like the Stump Stool from Cumulus Project to work up some magic. Stump Stools are made from wood harvested from fallen maple trees on the forest floor in Storm Bay, BC. Since the material used comes from fallen trees, it is nothing that the environmentalists will feel offended about. Talk about the upholstery and CP has used white leather and copper tacks over sustainably-harvested-latex foam.

These stools remain slightly off the floor which is a courtesy of their small and almost invisible feet. These stools are ideal for indoor use or the covered outdoors.

Matthew’s Sculptural Home Office for the Perfect Workspace Contest 2010

The image on view here is of Matthew’s sculptural home office who happens to hail from Washington, DC. For Matthew , his very home is his workplace and his aim was to make the workstation 100% comfortable so that he can work, connect with friends, listen to some music, all in a very cozy manner.  He believes that it is important to have a streamlined workspace and as that can make spending time more productive and enjoyable as well.

He has brought into use a notebook and trendy looking headphones amongst other things so that these pieces can add to the sculptural value of the workspace. For me, this entry deserves to be the winner of the contest as I also love the color palette he has used.

Nistor & Nistor Evolutive Design Collection

Lamps are an important home décor item and they can add a lot of aesthetic value to your home décor.Nistor & Nistor have unveiled the Evolutive Design Collection which features lamps with elements that can individually rotate up to 360°. The individual movement of these elements helps create an unlimited number of shapes which makes this collection a playful and interactive collection always inviting the user to reshape it.

As per the designers, this lamp has a longer life compared to the others simply because it can communicate with a user for a longer duration by always varying its form. The overall collection has three lamps dubbed the Magna, Opus, and Tempo.

Lamps are always different. There a lot of designs, shapes and sizes when it comes to this feature. Each one of them is different. As you can see from these examples, this very interesting collection features many designs, all of them modern and original. Most of them have abstract shapes and the idea was to create something modern and beautiful that completes the room.

They all come in white, a very good choice in this case. The light they create is a soft and intimate one. I would place a lamp like this in the bedroom. But the living room in a great idea as well. I guess you could place it anywhere you want as long as it looks good.

Ambient Lighting Solution for Your Workstation

The doctors do not necessarily need to tell you that constant time spent on your computer is harmful for your eyes as it is something which the world knows. Constant seating on the workstation means that your eyes will definitely be strained at the end of the day and you therefore need to think about alternatives that lesser the strain. One great alternative is to use LEDs to surround your workstation with ambient light. The ideal positioning of the lights should be behind the monitor or the screen as that helps reduce the strain in a considerable way.

Some inspiration can be drawn from Kevin Freitas and what he has done with his Vika Lauri table from IKEA. Kevin affixed a string of white or multi-colored Dioder LED lights from IKEA in the metal lip using sticky tape.  This can really save your eyes and the added advantage is a chick looking working station.
