Fold down beds – a huge space-saving solution for all types of homes

The bed is a crucial piece of furniture that every home has. But, at the same time, it’s also the one that perhaps occupies the most space. And since space is always a problem in our homes, solutions must be found. A great way of saving space would therefore be to somewhat hide the bed when not used. Fold-down beds are thus very practical. Here are a few examples of designs.

This relatively small bedroom also serves as a home office. Therefore, having a large bed that occupies half of the room would not be a very good design solution. But this fold-down bed solves the problem beautifully as it gets out of the way during the day and it can be put back down at night.

Small but serene and beautiful house in Holland

There are people that, when asked, would always say that they prefer an apartment over a house. They love the convenience and they don’t mind living in a crowded apartment building with lots of neighbors. But sometimes you find a house that’s so beautiful and serene that nobody can resist its charm. For example, just take a look at this beautiful home.

Located in Holland, this charming house is the type of home that everyone dreams about. It’s quite small as it measures only 43 square meters across but it doesn’t seem cluttered at all. In fact, it even looks spacious and airy. That’s mostly because the décor is almost entirely white. A white décor is usually blend and minimalist. But in this case, the crisp white background is beautifully complemented by a few colorful pieces that are strategically placed around the house. They are tiny details but they change the décor and the atmosphere dramatically.

DIY Nightstand Ideas

I have a friend who really doesn’t love do-it-yourself stuff. As she stated, “I don’t really see the point. I’d really rather save my time and just BUY it!” While there’s something to be said for the ease of seeing something you want and making a purchase, I can’t help but feel she’s missing out on some major adventures and points of self-satisfaction by eschewing DIY altogether.

Of course, I can’t be too hard on her, because I come from the other extreme point of view. I’m a DIY nut. Take nightstands, for example. Sure, the market is full of these little pieces of furniture, but to find something that fits your style, space, color, and storage needs (and that is within budget) can often be super hard, if not impossible. DIY customization to the rescue! Here are five DIY nightstand ideas to get you started:

Pink Living Rooms Ideas That Are Not Overbearing

Shocking is the word most commonly associated with the color pink. However, pink need not be an overly vibrant hue that becomes overbearing in home décor and tiring on the eye. If you reckon that pink is just for young girls’ rooms and lacks sophistication, then think again. From delicate roses to light salmon, pink need not be reserved for the shock factor of, for instance, a vivid fuchsia.

Pinks, in a variety of tones, will make an excellent addition to a living space and they don’t necessarily need to be used in a way that makes the room feel overtly feminine. With a delicate designer’s touch you can bring a little pink to your sitting room and enjoy it without an overbearing effect that comes with too much vibrancy.

Contemporary Studio Extension For A New Jersey Church

Even though it’s rare, it’s not uncommon for a church to be transformed and to become a private residence. It’s the case of this historic church that can be found in Hoboken, New Jersey. The exterior of the church was kept almost intact while the interior was restructured and completely redesigned. But it’s not the actual residence that stands out. It’s the studio extension that has been recently built.

The extension doesn’t follow the same lines as the main structure. While the residence has an exterior that is still faithful to the building’s history, the studio creates a dramatic contrast. It’s a contemporary space with an exterior design that would stand out in any environment. The project was designed and developed by Marchetto Higgins Stieve Architects. They used modern materials that contrast with the natural brick and stone that were used to build the original building.

What Women Look For In A Walk-In Closet

Organizing your closet in much more easier when you know exactly how you want it to look and what it needs to have in order to be perfect. Women, for example, have different requirements than men regarding their closet. There are things that they always look for when analyzing a closet. These things usually are:

Shoes storage.

You don’t have to be very fancy to have lots of shoes. Even if you don’t particularly enjoy buying shoes you must have at least a few pairs. Those pairs of shoes have to sit beautifully and they have to be nicely organized. Women don’t just store their shoes but they also display them. It’s why the more compartments dedicated to shoes a closet has, the better.
