Ocean Views Single Family Residence

This beautiful contemporary residence is located in Laguna Beach, California, USA. It was designed and built by MACK Architect’s together with associate Dongwoo Architects and Oligino Construction Services. The residence sits on a 4,000 sqf area and it was completed in 2009. It was designed as a single-family residence, a quiet and tranquil home that takes full advantage of its location. Because the house is situated along the steep hills of the Laguna Beach, the incredibly beautiful ocean views were an important element when designing this place.

The residence is a two-storey structure with a light metal roof and a nice terrace from where the owners can admire the breathtaking surroundings and the spectacular views. The house is divided into two separate levels and it incorporates a large open living area. On the upper level are the living and dining areas together with a large open kitchen. The other level incorporated the private areas of the house.

On the west side there’s a beautiful outdoor terrace that makes the transitions between the spectacular outdoors and the interior while also exposing the interior spaces to the gorgeous views. Even though I really like this residence and I can’t deny that the views are extraordinary, I still tend to have a problem with that abrupt hill it sits on. There’s no separation between the terrace and that area and that really makes me think it’s not at all safe.{found on archdaily}
