New redesigned residence in Marseilles by Maurice Padovani Montredon

This residence is located in a neighborhood in Marseilles, France. It’s an early twentieth century home that was recently redesigned by French architect Maurice Padovani. The house was originally built at the beginning of the 20th century. It was built suing stone and it’s situated close to the harbor and the sea. The location is beautiful and it allows panoramic views of the surrounding area.

As for the design and structure of the residence, some major changes had to be made. The stairway was restored. It allows access to the second floor of the house. The entrance allows you to basically access all the functional rooms of the house, such as the dressing room, the library, the kitchen, dining room and the living room. The ground floor was drastically restructured. All the partitions have been demolished and this allowed the architect to work with one large space. In order to maintain the stability of the house, two metallic poles were installed to sustain the flooring.

The living room is facing north-west. It has large windows that allow panoramic views of the bay. The windows allow natural light to get inside but they also let in heat and wind. This is the major inconvenient but since this was the original design of the house, nothing could be done. Still, the beautiful views make the inhabitants forget about all the other problems. From the kitchen they can even admire the sea.
