BBC decided to open a new creative hub in the North of England as a way of getting closer to audiences across the region. BBC North is a vibrant and dynamic space that allows flexibility in the work space and also doubles as a studio space. BBC transformed the space in one of the three buildings at MediaCityUK in Salford and turned it into a lovely and colorful creation space. The space at the edge of the atrium was too narrow for desks or rooms so it has been connected to the public spaces offering beautiful views of the surrounding landscape.

The BBC North space features an activity-driven design approach that allows employees to work more effectively and creatively is small spaces. BBC also launched an intensive and energized programme of user engagement. The process includes interviews, feedback sessions and people profiling over a period of seven months. ID:SR decided to use a variety of textures and materials for the three buildings and each one of them has a different look.
