Mason jars, even though created for a very specific purpose, are very versatile and great for storing more than just food. They are also very great items for all sorts of DIY projects and they can be used as decorative pieces. There are plenty of things you can do with a Mason jar. For example, you can use Mason jars to make your kitchen more beautiful. They will give it a rustic and inviting look and you don’t even have to get too creative for this project. You can take advantage of their primary function and use them as storage items for all sorts of goodies and spices. A series of open shelves will serve you wonderfully. You can display your entire collection of Mason jars on them.

Mason jars are particularly useful in small kitchens where the storage space is limited. Since they’re transparent, you can see exactly what they contain without having to get them down from the shelf and without having to open them. They don’t even need labels. Just find some clear, transparent Mason jars and a free shelf and you can save both time and space with them.

Of course, the kitchen is not the only place where Mason jars can be useful. For example, you can even use them in your office or work area. They are great for storing pencils, given their shape and size. And since they’re clear it’s easy to fins the exact color you’re looking for without searching too much. It might not sound very appealing but it’s actually a very practical idea, especially in the summer when you drink lots of fluids and cold beverages. Of course, we’re not talking about large Mason jars but about the standard medium size. They’re great for outdoor entertaining and for serving lemonade and other summer drinks.

Mason jars can also be used for purely decorative purposes. You can use them to make some lovely patio light fixtures. You just need some wire or resistant rope if you prefer a more rustic look and also something to hang them from. You can use a tree or you can make something using scrap wood and other salvaged pieces from your garden.

When you don’t have much space for storage in your kitchen, not even on a shelf, you can improvise. For example, take a look at these Mason jars filled with spices.
