Modern Amsterdam Armoire

Back in the 17th century the French invented and used the “armoire”, which is a sort of cabinet where you can store different things that are more or less valuable for you. This piece of furniture has been very popular ever since and the name stuck. This Modern Amsterdam Armoire is the modern version of that popular piece of furniture and it combines in a fortunate manner the usefulness of such a thing and its modern and cool design. This armoire is designed by the designers from Scholten & Baijings and it is based on ther Dutch design of furniture. These guys turned the traditional and painted wooden armooire into a beautiful and modern centerpiece of your bedroom or living room.

First of all it is made of modern materials like fiber board, printed laminate, steel and hand blown glass. However, the essential features were kept, as this armoire, too, has the interior featuring printed pattern and still life pictures on each doorpainted instead of having them painted by hand on the outside like its ancestor did. The hand painted still life was replaced with artistic photos made by the photographers Maurice Scheltens & Liesbeth Abbenes. Two legs are made of hand blown glass and look really cool in the pink hue you can admire in the pictures. This Amsterdam Armoire has four doors and a drawer and can make any room look modern for $13,600.
