Minimalist Apartment Decorated With Shades Of Forest Green

Green and brown are two colors that look great when put together. They create a very comfortable environment, possibly because of their connection with nature and the fact that they’re usually found in this exact combination in forests. These are two main accent colors chosen for this stylish apartment in Kiev, Ukraine.

The apartment was designed by Sergey Makhno Architects, a studio that knows how to stay ahead of trends by being bold, daring and by creating timeless and functional designs. They always find a way to naturally incorporate traditions into modern designs and to be innovative by creating their own custom-designed products and furniture pieces.

This stylish apartment has a minimalist interior that, besides the color palette, doesn’t really have much to stand out for. The interior was designed to first of all be practical and functional. The lack of any unnecessary features and elements allows it to stay airy and bright and to be quite versatile.

Even though the apartment is very simple and lacks the usual knick-knacks and decorations, the ambiance and the décor are very comfortable and welcoming. This is due to the choice of colors. Green and brown are employed in various different shades.

The biggest concentration of green is in the living room. In here, a green sofa and a set of matching armchairs with wooden frames are complemented by a wooden floor and a small accent rug in a different but just as beautiful shade of green.

At the back of the sofa is a bar which separates the lounge area from the kitchen. Behind the armchairs, long brown curtains cover the large windows and set a smooth transition between the wooden floor and the concrete ceiling.

Cove lighting frames the TV wall. Together with the lights embedded into the ceiling, they create a pleasant and intimate ambiance in the whole space. Another lovely detail is the color of the doors that match the floor to a certain degree but stand out a well.

The ceiling is a nice way to bring some contrast into the décor. Its cool gray color balances out the warmth of the wood and brown, being also complemented by the white and green surfaces.

There’s another interesting thing about the ceiling. We’re talking about the sculptural light fixture that impresses with its sleek and minimalist design but manages to also stand out with its interesting form and lines.

As mentioned, the living space shares the floor plan with the kitchen. They’re separated by a bar. The kitchen area is quite spacious and also incorporates a small dining nook. Once again the wooden floor and the furniture gives the space a warm feel and make it comfortable.

The light fixture hanging above the dining table is one of the focal points in this part of the apartment. It has multiple pendant lamp shades hanging from sleek cords and its design is both stylish and playful, just like the whole décor and the very concept at the base of this project.

The rest of the kitchen is neutral. A large wall unit with a white surface and a black countertop nook offers generous storage for all the necessary things and keeps them all hidden, allowing the décor to stay simple, clean and fresh.

The bedroom is dominated by shades of brown. The earthy color palette makes the room really cozy and welcoming. Large windows let in lots of natural light while the wooden floor, wall unit and accent wall add texture and warmth to the space.

The bathroom lacks any of the two accent colors. It’s a bright space with white walls and a white ceiling framed by LED light strips. The glass shower keeps the room open and spacious while the floor tiles add a little bit of comforting texture to the mix.
