The Blurred House is actually part of a larger project. It’s the first in a series of studies into the adaptation of vernacular Australian suburban typologies. The house wasn’t built from scratch, It was a renovation and extension of a structures that dated back to the 1930s. It’s a combination of old and new and the limit between these two typologies is not very clear. The name has been cleverly chosen to reflect that.

As seen from the street, the house doesn’t seem very impressing. New materials have been used during the reconstruction process, both on the exterior and the interior of the house. The house has evolved into a completely new building.

The room at the front of the property and enclosed while the living spaces to the rear are progressively more open and interconnected. It’s a very interesting concept. The Blurred House is a hybrid of old and new, of past and present. It seems familiar and yet strange and it’s very distinct from all the other construction in the area.{found on archdaily and pics by Tanja Milbourne}
