Linger Bench by Alvin Tjitrowirjo

Made by the Indonesian designer Alvin Tjitrowirjo, this bench looks so natural because is made of natural rattan and is produced by hand. In this project there are used traditional techniques and it combines them with a more contemporary approach to form.

The shape is very organic, as well as the materials used. And it’s also very comfortable. It would look very nice in a modern home. But it could also be used outside. Just be careful, because it was designed for indoor use so it’s not going to resist to harsh weather conditions or rain. It might get ruined, so you would better use it inside or in a protected area.

The lacquer finish bring out the natural color of the rattan and it also offers extra durability and shine. Actually the idea of rattan benches is not new. It’s quite old. What is new about this piece is the contemporary approach in terms of form. A nice combination between old techniques and modern design.What do you think about this bench?
