Innovative school design by Chartier-Delix architects

Chartier-Delix architects have just won the competition to design a primary school and sport hall in Boulogne, Billancourt. Their proposal is very innovative and daring but it has some flaws that we’re going to discuss together. Overall, the project is very impressive as it attempts to create a very interesting combination between a public gymnasium and a school that are brought together and covered with a living shell.

It seems that the architects have tried to create a new ecosystem where local fauna and flora elements are brought together creating a very beautiful landscape. There are many different species of plants and trees, as well as small animals like bugs and owls that invite the children to explore and discover the secrets of nature. It’s a very interesting idea but it seems like the kind of concept that only sounds good in theory. Now let’s talk a little about the architecture and the design of this place. The project was designed on several levels and even though it looks very beautiful and interesting it doesn’t seem safe at all, especially considering that there will be a lot of children playing and running in there.

The idea of trying to accommodate children and animals, plants and other natural elements is good in theory but not very easy to implement. Anyway, it would b interesting to see the final result. Hopefully additional safety measures will be included.
