Perfect Balance Achieved For An Industrial Bachelor Pad
With a total surface of 92 square meters, this apartment may very well be a bachelor’s dream come true. It’s situated in Kaohsiung city, in Taiwn and it belongs to a single 30-year old engineer.
When planning the project, he wanted the place to have a masculine vibe but to also feel cozy and inviting. House Design Studio made sure all those wishes became reality.
A wide range of materials was used for the project, including concrete, steel, glass, wood and a variety of different textures. This allows the apartment to have a casual look while maintaining its masculine charm.
The open space includes a sitting area with a brown leather sofa with a rather traditional design and a not so traditional trunk coffee table. The area is nice and cozy thanks to the area rug.
The space behind the sofa is actually a sort of home office. Sliding panels can easily turn it into a private area but it can also be a part of the whole social zone the rest of the time.
Steel bars were used here to create a shelving unit. They match the industrial vibe employed throughout the apartment and they also keep the décor light and simple. But the best part about the unit is the owner’s choice when it comes to accent decorations.
What appears to be a cold space is actually a very welcoming and pleasant space thanks to details such as Captain America’s shield or Hulk’s fist piercing through the wall. That tripod floor lamp also adds to the charm of the room.
For the rest of the apartment, the ambiance is just as nice: simple but with a twist. Instead of a dining area with a table and chairs, the owner chose to have a steel mini bar and bar stools. It’s actually a wonderful accent and the bar can also be considered a kitchen island gives its location.
There are a number of other details that make this apartment so charming, things like the chalkboard wall and all the interesting variations and combinations of textures and materials.
I find this particular portion of the apartment to be where you can best appreciate and admire the wonderful balance that defines the space. The cement finish on the walls, the simple wooden shelves and the green accents all work together to create a rather exquisite environment.
Managing to maintain this balance was perhaps the most difficult in the case of the bedroom. Here it’s not easy to achieve the perfect combination but, once again, the designers created a wonderful décor. An entire wall is dedicated to storage and the Rubik’s cube nightstand is just the playful touch the room needs to feel just right.
