Imposing residence in Brazil, elevated on piers and featuring beautiful lake views

The JPGN House is a contemporary structure located in Brasilia, Brazil. Its owner grew up on the same street and wanted to remain there since the area was so beautiful and the views so wonderful. Of course, despite the modest and traditional appearance of the houses in the vicinity, this one doesn’t share the same characteristics. This residence has a very imposing design. It was a project developed by Macedo, Gomes & Sobreira and completed in 2007.

The house occupies an area of 355 square meters and sits on a 800 square meter lot. The most impressive part of the design is the base. The house appears to be floating. It’s because it is almost fully elevated on piers. This was a strategic decision and this way the owner has opened the house to views above the neighbors’ roofs.

Internally, the structure is simple and functional. The upper level contains the living room, office, the bedrooms, the kitchen and the laundry. It’s a distribution that shortens the daily circulation, a detail that’s very important especially for families with small children. The rooms feature wonderful views in the distance and over the lake. The ground floor has small spaces and includes the garage, the service area and an employee bedroom. In the future, a small two-bedroom flat can also be built on this level. It was planned in advance and it will be a way of giving the kids more freedom.{found on archdaily and pics by Joana}.
