Some pieces of furniture impress with their innovative designs and intriguing details that become very popular but only for a while. Others, on the other hand, impress with their timeless designs. The Noguchi coffee table.
The original Noguchi table was designed by artist and industrial designer Isamu Noguchi. It was first produced in the mid-20th century and it was introduced by Herman Miller in 1947. Its designed was used as inspiration for years to come and has led to the creation of modern version of the same model. But this piece has also been inspired by another creation: a table that was designed in 1939 for Conger Goodyear, president of the Museum of Modern Art.
The Egg Chair.
Originally designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1958 for the Radisson SAS hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark, the Egg is a chair that features a simple and very elegant design that has the timeless beauty that’s typical to such iconic pieces of furniture. It is believed to be inspired by Eero Saarinen’s “Womb chair” and it was also designed as a couch, although it was a limited production.{image 1 and 2}.
The Panton chair.
The Panton chair revolutionized furniture design. The classical image of the chair was no longer that of a structure with four feet and a backrest. The Panton chair features curvaceous lines and a continuous structure that follows the human body’s silhouette.
The Saarinen Tulip Table.
The Saarinen Tulip Table is also called the Pedestal Table and it’s the piece that introduced this type of design in 1956. The original design had a cast aluminum base and it was said to be inspired by a droplet of water. Designed by Charles and Ray Eames for the Herman Miller furniture company, the Eames lounge chair was officially titled Eames Lounge (670) and was also accompanied by the Ottoman (671). They were both released in 1956 and their designs were focused on usability and comfort. The chair is still very popular and has become a symbol of elegance.

The Womb chair has a very interesting design and the idea at the base of this creation was the desire for a chair in which you can curl up and be cozy. The Eames elliptical table was the result of long experimentation with plywood. It’s made from seven layers of birch plywood and a steel wire base.
