How to Store the Kids Toys Effectively?
I don’t know about you, but i honestly am sick and tired of walking on all sorts of toy parts, smaller or bigger, sharper or not because I have two small kids and, of course, the little tornadoes are not very concerned about putting all the toys back in their place. So my whole house is covered with toys.
That makes me mad and the only solution is for me to start gathering them. But this way the problem is not solved because the kids get bored in about half an hour and they take the toys out again. The solution for the future would be to teach them how to place and deposit them in a special place they can reach, choosing a storing system that is simple enough for them to understand. So the first rule in storing the toys is finding a place that is accessible for kids. They are the ones who are supposed to take the toys out and place them in again.
The second golden rule is to store the toys vertically. It’s no use to put them in baskets on the floor, because soon the whole floor will be covered with these baskets. So use shelves, plastic boxed, baskets, all stored one on top of each other as you can see in the pictures. If you want the kids to know what is deposited in every box , just use transparent plastic ones with very easy to use lids or use big baskets with a label on: for example if a basket contains toy cars, draw a little toy car on the label and so on. If your kids are able to read you can use printed labels – stuffed toys, plastic men, etc.
A very good idea is to use some wooden support frames where to place some large plastic containers or maybe some open large wooden drawers, so that the kids can see what’s inside. Try to “rotate” the toys, that is choose some toys that have not been used for some time and store them somewhere safe, out of sight. Then bring that box and replace it with a new box full of toys. This way you will have more floor space and your kids will rediscover the old toys and will not get bored with them all.
