How To Hide Extra Storage In Fake Support Columns
We usually try to get rid of columns in our homes to expand the floor space and to unify the space so why would someone choose to intentionally add a column? Well, because it’s a great way of adding extra storage to a room.
Support columns are taken for granted, just like walls and doors and this makes them look inconspicuous and provides us with the perfect opportunity to be clever and to give them a new, unexpected use.
Custom-designed by Sophie Mensen, this interesting thing lets you hide a storage locker in plain sight. The columns appears to connect the floor and ceiling when it fact the power marble portion is not a static base but a pull-out step stool one can use to reach the higher compartments hidden inside the column.
The upper wooden portion hides a number of drawers and hidden shelves which can be used for storing all sorts of things including books, clothes, personal items, even shoes or valuables, depending on where the fake column in located.
Use one of these custom-made pieces to hide things in plain side and to fool your guests. It can also help enhance your interior design and it might even help divide an open floor plan, just like a real column would.
