How to hide a storage in a column?

Space is of utmost importance these days, when we have so many things and so little space to deposit them. Fashion comes and goes and we gather tons of shoes that are almost new and we don’t find the heart to throw them away. Plus all the little things that you say that you need and which keep gathering until you are totally buried under a huge pile of more or less useful things. So you must try to find some place for storing all these and in order to do so you must be very creative and find some storing space where nobody else could. Here is a wonderful idea from Sophie Mensen, an interior designer who found out many interesting solutions for some problems regarding interior design and storing things.

She had an interesting project of making a special cabinet used for storing things. This cabinet is made of wood and is supposed to hang from the ceiling and also to have a marble pedestal. At first sight you would say that it is an interior column that has as only purpose to support the ceiling and to offer resistance and protection. However, it offers enough space for depositing different smaller things. But if you are careful enough and find a good carpenter, it woyuld be hard to guess the doors to each part of the cabinet.

Yes, there are more wooden boxes that can used as drawers or small cabinets and you can store shoes there, books, notebooks, even clothes or I don’t know what kind of other things you need to deposit. They will be stored in the middle of the room and nobody will guess it.

The pedestal is also used for misleading the ones looking at it, as it looks perfectly normal at the basis of a column. But it does not offer exclusive support for the column/cabinet because this one is tall and thin and, if you do not hang it from the ceiling, there are excellent chances that it will collapse at the first move it feels.
