How to choose Pet-Friendly Fabrics?
Pets are so cute and cuddly you just want to hug them all day long but when they leave hairs all over the house then they become less cute and lot more annoying. Don’t blame the pets, blame your poor skills when choosing furniture and fabric for the house.
Pick stain-resistant fabrics.
Cats are not generally messy pets, although there are exceptions but if you have a dog then watch out for stains on your sofa and chairs. Pick stain-resistant fabric for the furniture and slipcovers such as microfiber, ultrasuede and others that are easy to clean.
Consider leather.
Leather furniture is great. It doesn’t let the pet hairs stick to it and it’s super easy to clean. However, although it’s durable, leather will most likely suffer minor scratches if you have a puppy or a naughty cat.
Denim hides imperfections.
Denim is a great option for pet-owners because of its natural rugged look. It’s also easy to clean and hides minor imperfections really well. Denim also comes in a variety of colors so there’s plenty of room for customization.
Opt for untextured fabrics.
It’s best to choose untextured, plain fabrics so your pet doesn’t get trapped in there. Cats usually enjoy to occasionally sink their claws in the couch and if the fabric is neat and simple the satisfaction is not as great and they don’t get stuck either.
Pattern is your best friend.
Fabric with bold patterns and prints are excellent for hiding pet hairs and minor stains. Another great trick is to choose fabric that has the same color as your pet’s coat so the hairs don’t stick out. A white cat and a black sofa are definitely not a good mix.
