How to Arrange Home Office Furniture Using Feng Shui

Feng shui is an ancient Chinese system of aesthetics which is believed to follow the laws of both Earth (geography) as well as Heaven (astronomy) to help to improve life by receiving positive Chi. You can easily position your home office furniture according to the ancient Feng Shui principles which will create a more stimulating and energy full environment. The following Feng Shui principles will certainly enable you achieve positive energy, or Chi and all distinguish work from your personal life.

  • Metallic Furniture. According to Feng Shui, metal is the element which symbolizes water. Metal furnishing should be kept in the north area of the office, which represents the life or career path. Feng Shui restricts one from placing the metal furnishings in the south since south symbolizes fire and water dampens fire.

  • Clutter Free Office. Always try to keep your office/ workplace free of clutter. Clutter can distract and misdirects your Ch’i. If you need some extra space, then try to convert an external closet into a storage unit. This way you can easily eliminate all the possible clutter out of your office room.

  • Work Desk. For ensuring an emotional separation between your work and pleasure, try to place your work desk at a maximum possible distance from your bedroom. Your back should not face the door while on the desk and also the desk should not face any wall. If you can’t avoid of the wall being faced the walls, just illuminate the wall with charming colors and artwork.

  • Office Wall Painting. You have to paint the walls and ceiling shades of your office with a relaxing as well as professional looking colors. Brown is a good choice. But another important thing in Feng Shui is that the wall color should vary. So you may try giving two walls with one shade and a darker shade on opposite walls. This can break up monotony.

  • Lighting and Lamps. The room lighting should be as natural as possible. Desk and floor lamps are good choice but avoid using fluorescent bulbs. The placement of lamps should not clutter the work space of the flow of the room.

  • Keep It Minimal and Sleek. A simply furnished room will increase the flow of Chi making it easier to concentrate. If room is too densely populated with furniture it will definitely affect the natural flow of Chi to that room.
