House in a small and narrow site in Kanagawa, Japan

This is the House in Seya. It’s a beautiful residence located in Kanagawa, Japan that was just completed in 2011. The house was designed by the Suppose Design Office and it has a very interesting and unusual look. The house sits on a very small and narrow site in a residential area of Kanagawa. It looks almost funny, squeezed into that plot between those other two buildings.

The client works in a flower shop and unlike others he really likes his job. So he requested a house that would be in harmony with nature, flowers and vegetation. In order to make his wish come true, the architects opted for an unusual design. They managed to incorporate a space that is neither a garden nor a room. They did that by enclosing the outer space.

The outer shell of the house was built as a storage for plants, book shelves and other elements and it will be the same as nature, neither finished nor unfinished. There’s a permanent connection between the architecture and the nature and this is visible from every angle. The residence was designed as a very versatile space. Even though it has been finished, it still seems to be in an uncompleted state. That’s how it’s supposed to be. It’s unusual but it works for the client.{found on archdaily}
