Historic cottage in Nantucket renovated by Luke Thornewill

This beautiful cottage is located in Nantucket, a lovely island 30 miles south of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. It’s a historic building and it has been recently renovated by architect Luke Thornewill and interior designer Janet Kielley. It was a two-year long project but it was finally completed. When you see how beautiful the interior looks like you understand why it took them so long to finish it.The cottage didn’t get a total makeover.

The architect and the interior designer tried to preserve as much as possible the original charm of the building and to update it while also maintaining the same style. As you can see, everything has its place inside the cottage. The attention to details is amazing. It looks like a brand new old cottage with rustic features and a charming décor. The kitchen is quite small but very cute. It features white walls and cabinets with subtle antique-like decorations and details.

The walls have been painted white throughout for a fresh and airy look. The furniture introduces turquoise accents in the form of a cabinet, a bench or the dining room chandelier. The color palette contains pastel tones with bold touches of blue and turquoise. The décor is very rustic and the atmosphere is quiet, relaxing and soothing. The decorations and accessories played a very important role in this project and really bring everything together in a balanced and charming décor.{found on countryliving}.
