Hasharon Contemporary House in Israel
Sharon Newman Architects designed a new building in Israel. Let’s take a look at their project and see what’s good and what’s not. Looking from the exterior the building looks very modern and very well proportioned. The different volumes are painted in slightly different shades to differentiate somehow the areas and their purpose. Inside there is huge open space at the ground floor. The architects opted for open plan solution with various spaces separated only by their utility and a suspended wall.
The kitchen is very spacious and very well equipped. It has very clean lines and a nice dining area. Upstairs, the situation changes dramatically. The rooms are smaller in comparison with the lower spaces and the furniture is not that revolutionary. Except for the washbasins and taps the bathroom looks a bit cheap to be honest. That work area fits very well in the décor, the environment looking actually the other way around.
Like somebody is living in on office building. This is I believe is the major flaw in this design. Indeed is very modern and modern materials, but it lacks the sensation of home. It doesn’t look comfortable, it’s cold and dull. There is the same color everywhere and it looks more like and office building or an airport than it looks like a house. Not to mention that the interior doesn’t match at all the exterior. I don’t know what is the influence in that part of the word but from my point of view this design overlooks a few important details.
