Hand chair with foot by Pedro Friedeberg

Sometimes old works of art are rediscovered after some years and they benefit from an instant and huge success. That is the case with one of the sculptures made by Pedro Friedeberg back in the 1960s. Now somebody rediscovered his works of art and promoted them. So this “Hand chair with food” is really famous now. Well, it is not exactly something you can produce in series and deliver as office furniture, but it can be used as an interesting sculpture if you want to bring some unusual and unique touch to your home or  even office.

The author was inspired by the human body and Friederg saw the hand as a comfortable area to sit on. He probably saw this when mothers took their children in their hands. And because the hand had to have some support , he thought of the foot to be the part that connects the hand to the ground.

I know that if you make it large enough you can actually use it as a chair, but my opinion is that it would be a shame to do so and this way use a work of art as an improper object.
