Goan Bamboo Chair by Prajakta Bamanikar

Prajakta Bamanikar an Industrial Design student at the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay, India, has designed a bamboo chair for use by restaurants in the popular tourist region of Goa. The chair design looks more contemporary combined with other materials. Combine it with the trendy chairs and the right tables, and you’ll create the ambiance that’s needed.

Actually, the main characteristic of this chair is not the bamboo, but the structure. It has a nice curved shape, made from thin pieces of metal that are combined to form a continuous shape. And once you have the structure, all you have to do is add the bamboo cover and it’s done. It’s a very simple process and the design is also quite simple. But this also means that it’s not as comfortable as other chairs because it doesn’t have a soft cushion. It’s just the bamboo that is protecting your body.

Anyway, it’s a beautiful chair and it would look very nice in the dining area, in the kitchen and even outside, as long as it’s in a protected area. Actually I think this chair would look better outdoors. With a simple table, it could be a beautiful place for relaxation.
