DIY wine racks – a little bit of warmth and natural beauty for your home

A wine rack is not one of those items you can’t live without but it’s also not one of those items you can say you would mind having in your home. It’s a piece that adds elegance and style to any home and, more than that, a piece that is both functional and beautiful as a decorative element. But wine rack can be quite expensive. It’s why a DIY wine rack would be a wonderful project for any home. Here are a few ideas to get you inspired.

To make a similar one you first have to cut the pieces of wood to the desired dimensions, distress them and then cut the holes for the wine bottles. Attach them to the back of the rack and would your piece on the wall.{found on designsponge}.

Wine racks don’t necessarily have to hold too many bottles. If you don’t have much space or you if you’re not a very big wine lover, you can make a small rack. For example, this one holds three bottles and it’s made using a mailing tube. You also need a hot glue gun, colored duct tape, scissors, scrap of felt, a box cutter and spray adhesive. Cut the tube in half lengthwise and mark a straight line that runs the length of the tube. Then make another lengthwise line that starts halfway around the circumference of the tube. Make a cut along the lines and slice the tube. Glue the curved pieces together and add duct tape to keep them secure. Add the felt lining and you’re done.{found on designsponge}.

This is a wine rack made out of a wooden crate. To give it a new look and a new use, the crate had to be raised up on legs. This detail is not compulsory. You only need to make some holes for the bottles and to make sure they are positioned correctly and that they have the same dimensions. You can place a separator between the two rows so that the bottles don’t touch each other.{found on mayamade}.

This is a very simple and easy to make wine rack design. The materials needed are a wooden plank, a drill press, sandpaper, tape measure and a pencil. First cut the plank to the desired size. Then mark where the holes need to be drilled. Drill the holes for the bottles, sand off the pencil marks and the rough edges and then paint or stain the piece if you want. Hang the shelf on the wall and you’re done.{found on site}.

This pallet wine rack is also easy to make and it doesn’t cost much to make either. To make it you need a half pallet. Take the bottom of the pallet and make a cut across the three beams that will be used for the rack. Then take an extra board off the pallet and add it to the back of the wine rack. Do the same thing for the bottom to hold the wine bottles up. Secure each attachment with wood screws, sand the wood and stain it.{found on wilsonsandpugs}.
