Design Tips: Setting up for Summer

Are you ready for summer? Of course you are but your home has to be too. There’s no need to redesign the space. A few seasonal touches are enough to change the ambiance and to welcome summer. The following design tips and ideas are meant to make you enjoy this season more and to enhance the overall fresh atmosphere.

First of all, you’ll probably want to spend as much time outdoors as possible. So start planning an outdoor bar even a kitchen with an adjacent dining area. You and your guests can enjoy dinner out here and appreciate the nice weather.

If you have an outdoor seating area on the patio or in the back yard, you can add an area rug to make it more comfortable and welcoming. The rug will change the whole décor and will bring the comfort of the indoors outside.

Similarly, pay attention to the table décor. Use bold colors and add a table runner or a table cloth to make it all look more homey and pleasant. You can introduce some fun and cheeful patterns as well and decorate the table with vases and other accessories.

Obviously, don’t neglect your garden. Make sure it’s all fresh and green. Perhaps you can plant a few seasonal flowers in advance so the landscape would be vibrant and colorful. You can put a few chairs and a small table in the garden and create an intimate relaxation area.

Hang a hammock by the pool or in the garden. Actually, if you have a pool or a pond you can allow the hammock to hang above the water. It would be so relaxing and amazing spending your free afternoons out here.

An outdoor shower is a great feature during summer. Always stay fresh and enjoy the warmth while it lasts. Put the shower somewhere private or enclose it with panels. It could occupy a small portion of your backyard or deck.

Make a table or a bar out of wooden pallets. You need two pallets which you secure together to make the base. Paint them if you prefer to change their look. Then add a countertop or improvise one and that’s all.

How about a backyard movie theater. Put out some comfy lounge chairs and build your own outdoor movie screen. Hang some fairy lights on the trees and add a few small side tables and pillows. Then all you need is a good movie and some popcorn.

And what could be more relaxing than lounging outside on a daybed or chaise lounge, under a big umbrella? Create your own beautiful relaxation spot in the garden or backyard. In such a beautiful setting it’s impossible to stay mad, sad or stressed.

Of course, you can’t spend all your time outdoors this summer so don’t neglect the inside the house. Add a beach-style twist to the bedroom with some themed wall art and the right accent colors.

Put a few shells and some sand in a glass container and you can display this piece on the coffee table mantel or on your desk to get a taste of the beautiful summer beach in your home.
