Design Tips: Setting up for Summer

There is no time more fun than the early days of summer, when you get to start putting away the old winter stuff and start setting up for summer. Entertaining outside, enjoying the warm weather, the trees and flowers lush and lovely; summer certainly is a wonderful time of year. You may go to get started though, and end up finding yourself slightly overwhelmed. Don’t worry, because there are a few handy tips that will get you off to a good start, to create the ultimate summer style at your home.

Clean Up.

Before you start pulling out anything new, it’s going to help clear your mind and help you start off fresh by cleaning up and getting rid of all the clutter. Clean up around the garden and yard, removing any debris and basically creating a fresh new space for yourself to work with. There are lots of gardening tasks you can get started on, from preparing the ground for sowing a lawn to sowing flowers you want to bloom this season.

Decoration is always a big deal for summer. From pruning the plants to setting up a hammock in the backyard, a birdfeeder by the stairs or adding a water element for interest, there are so many fun, wonderful ways to decorate your outdoor space. This the perfect time to work on some DIY crafts, and you can even get the kids involved. Whip up some decorative throw pillows, or create a nautical theme with stripes and a few buoys hung on the wall for an interesting, perfectly suitable outdoor space.

Most people enjoy entertaining friends and family in an outdoor living space. The most important issue here is function. From a barbecue set to lots of seating space, you want to make sure you have a comfortable area where you and your favorite people can get together and enjoy one another’s company.

Setting up for summer doesn’t have to be a struggle, when you take the time to get prepared and think ahead for a minute before getting started.{picture sources:1,2,3}.
