Cultural Significant Complex by GMP Architects

Universiade Sports Center is an astounding building laid out as an extensive landscaped park with typical elements of a traditional Chinese garden. Designed by GMP Architects this amazing complex is located in Shenzhen, China.

When the architects took on this project they had to take into consideration some important aspects, such as functionality of both international sports events and the organization of other social events and concerts. Another special demand was to create a culturally significant, symbolic project for Shenzhen.

Moreover, the architects have thought of everything, including the public. They took good care of the public facilities, so that when there are no events on they are available to the public for leisure and recreation. The design is inspired by the surrounding undulating landscape so it enables topographical modulation in the sports center.

But wait, that’s not all, a beautiful artificial lake connects the stadium at the foot of the mountain with the circular hall in the north and the rectangular swimming hall west thereof. The building displays interesting, playful shapes which are emphasized by the multitude of lighting. It is bright, modern and has a clean cut design.

Universiade Sports Center is a dazzling building and was not an easy project. It has a cultural significance and is a beautiful complex.
