Contemporary Handel family residence in Emek Israel

The Hendel Residence is a contemporary family home that was designed by SaaB architects. It’s located in Kfar Yehoshua, Emek,Israel and the property occupies an area of 755 square meters. The home itself sits on a 175 square meter area.The construction process was completed in 2009 and the project team was forme by Ronit Barkil and Luciano Santandreu who worked with construction engineer Shabtai Mualem and construction supervisor Yehudit Kadmi.

The house sits on a flat site and it’s surrounded by Pecans and vegetation. The clients requested a compact and efficient house that would respond well to the weather conditions in that area. They wanted a simple home with an inviting interior and that would really make them feel like home. They also wanted the house to be easy to maintain. The architects came up with a design that responded to all the client’s requests.

The house has an elongated structure and it’s oriented north-south. This way the inhabitants can benefit from privacy while also taking advantage of the climate. The residence has a simple design, with clean lines. It’s formed of two perpendicular volumes that separate the public and the private areas. The facade was made using aluminum. The residence also has a double wall construction that was meant to moderate the inner climate of the house. There’s also a sophisticated shading system and each opening has been suited with a specific type of blind.{found on archdaily}
